LOCATION

Ca’Mattei is located in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. Le Marche (The Marches) or; the border / mark between former papal and royal country is sometimes referred to as Italy’s best kept secret.

This region is strategically located between Tuscany and Umbria in the West, the Emilia Romagna in the North and the Abruzzo in the South.

Montesecco; a stone’s throw from the Adriatic Coast, on the foothills of the Apennines with Monte Catria (1700m) and Monte Acuto (1527m).

On the East side, we can see the Adriatic Sea and also the Monte Conero beyond Ancona.

On the south-west side you can enjoy a beautiful and distant panoramic view to the Apennines.

Although blissfully quiet, the house is not isolated at all.

San Lorenzo in Campo, with its typical rural village atmosphere, is the nearest village (8 minutes’ drive). There are a few bakeries, butchers, a supermarket, a newsagent/bookshop and a pharmacy and … the inevitable coffee bar. So, everything you need for a carefree holiday. On Tuesdays there is a weekly market where many local traders and artisan farmers come to sell their products.

Pergola, a ten-minute drive, is a larger town with a slightly more extensive range of services.

From Ca’Mattei you reach the Adriatic coast after a calm drive of about half an hour.

Senigallia (35 minutes) and Fano (45 minutes) are pleasant coastal towns.

The port city of Ancona, the nature reserve of Monte Conero with its rocky coasts at Portonovo, Sirolo and Numana, are also recommended. (60 min)

Urbino (60 min), the beautiful hometown of Raphaël (also a university city) is real must see.
